The heart-shaped purpleheart keepsake box shown here was created for my niece Jamie during a frightening chapter in her life after a breast cancer diagnosis at a young age. Now thankfully in remission, her strength and outlook made this piece even more meaningful to build. This was one of my very first multi-piece CNC projects — personalized with her name, a sunflower symbol of hope, a quote from A.A. Milne, and a handwritten message from her uncle, all laser-engraved and carefully hand-finished. Like many early pieces, I can still see the imperfections — but this box marks the true beginning of the journey that became 3 Dogs Woodworking.
