A game remembered. A life honored.
Stacy’s cribbage board began quietly, during a collaboration with my boss on a different project. In passing, she mentioned she wouldn’t mind having a cribbage board of her own. That simple comment became the beginning of something much deeper.
The Meier’s Camp Cribbage Board was created in loving memory of Mick Meier, the father of Stacy’s husband, Jeff, who had recently passed away. Mick’s camp held decades of memories, laughter, and tradition — and cribbage was part of that rhythm. It was where family gathered, stories were told, and games were played late into the evening.
Rather than creating a generic board, this piece was designed to honor Mick, his legacy, and the place he loved most. The lid features a line-art engraving crafted from a photograph of the actual camp — a quiet but powerful reminder of where so many memories were made. Beneath it, the board is engraved with the words:
“The Man • The Myth • The Legend”
In Loving Memory of Mick Meier
When Stacy received the board, she shared that it would live at the camp and be used by the entire family — exactly as Mick would have wanted. She later followed up to say Jeff had already sent photos to relatives, and that “they are going to freak when they see it.”
This wasn’t just a game anymore. It became a way to keep someone present — deal by deal, hand by hand.
