Custom Work

Custom work, to me, means taking an idea—sometimes fully formed, sometimes just a rough thought—and turning it into something real. It might be a piece I’ve already designed that you want personalized, an idea you’ve been carrying around for years, or something we develop together through conversation, reference photos, and previews of the design as it takes shape.

Sometimes a project starts from an existing design and evolves into something entirely its own. Other times, it begins as “I don’t know exactly what I want, but I’ll know it when I see it”—and we get there by refining, adjusting, and building toward what feels right. That might mean a humidor designed around a specific cigar, a cribbage board built for family game nights, or a piece that marks a milestone.

The common thread is intention. Every custom piece is built specifically for the person it’s meant for, with careful thought given to use, materials, and meaning—not mass production, not templates, and not rushed work.

How Custom Work Happens

Every custom piece starts with a conversation. Sometimes you arrive with a clear idea, sometimes just a feeling or a purpose—and sometimes it takes a few back-and-forths to find the right direction. We talk through what you have in mind, share reference photos or examples when helpful, and refine the idea together as it takes shape. Along the way, I may share previews, screenshots, or progress updates so you can see how things are evolving before anything is finalized. The process is collaborative, flexible, and intentional—focused on arriving at something that feels right, not forcing it into a template.

What to Expect

Custom work is a conversation, not a transaction. We’ll start by talking through your idea—what it’s for, who it’s for, and why it matters. From there, I’ll develop the design digitally, share previews as it takes shape, and adjust along the way until it feels right. Some projects come together quickly; others evolve over time. Either way, the goal is the same: a finished piece that makes sense for you, not something rushed just to hit a deadline.

Because every piece is built one at a time, timelines can vary depending on complexity, materials, and current shop workload. I’ll always be upfront about what’s realistic and keep communication clear throughout the process. If you’re looking for something meaningful, well-made, and thoughtfully executed, you’re in the right place.

Start a Project

If you have an idea you’d like to explore—fully formed or still taking shape—I’d be glad to talk it through. Whether you’re starting from a reference, adapting an existing design, or figuring it out as we go, the first step is simply a conversation. Reach out and tell me what you’re thinking, and we’ll see where it leads.
